Self-care - getting the most from aromatherapy
Before your aromatherapy treatment with Zoë
Once you have booked, I will send you a confirmation via email or text message
There are some simple things that you can do to help you get the most from your aromatherapy treatment. I would suggest the following:
Eat lightly: the day before, and on the day of your appointment. This doesn't mean you need to go hungry, but I would suggest taking care of your digestive system and don't have a heavy meal beforehand
Wear loose clothing; nothing tight around the stomach or limbs. Loose fitting, relaxation wear is perfect
I may work around your face and neck (so where possible not wearing make up is preferable). Make up can streak and can even prevent absorption of the oils
Following your initial consultation and first aromatherapy massage with me, you will be given advice on how to continue your 'self-care' between treatments. I believe this after care to be an essential part of your 'Zoë Secrett Aromatherapy' experience.
Using the oils
Occasionally I will offer you a therapeutic blend of essential oils to take home to use between treatments. This helps to give your treatment continuity and can enhance your feeling of wellbeing.
Other effective methods of using essential oils:
Aromatherapy is not always integrated with massage – there are many ways that essential oils can be used to positive effect. Other methods include:
Inhalation (through the use of an oil burner or diffuser)
Bathing (using essential oils as part of your bathing routine)
Lotions/creams (applying essential oils to the body with the use of a carrier oil, lotion or cream)
Compress (Using a cloth - hot or cold, to apply oils to the body)
As a professional aromatherapist, I will be able to advise you on the most effective way for you to incorporate essential oils into your daily routine. I will explain what is appropriate for you personally, together with the correct dosage for each method.

Care for Therapists
Being a therapist can often be emotionally and energetically demanding and challenging; if we do not regularly attend to our own wellbeing, we may become gradually worn down without realising and as a consequence, we are not able to provide the best possible care for our clients. I have created Aromatherapy sessions specifically for therapists to provide balance and restoration. Please contact me to learn more and to book a personalised treatment.
