Your aromatherapy session
It's important that you get the most from your aromatherapy massage. Knowing what to expect before you arrive, can help you relax and remove any unnecessary fears. After reading this page, feel free to contact me and ask any questions you might have.
Your initial consultation
Your first aromatherapy appointment with me will involve a detailed consultation. In the comfort and privacy of my treatment space at home, you will be asked about your medical history, diet, lifestyle and any health problems or concerns. You can also ask any questions you might have. This information is treated with the utmost of respect and is confidential.
It's important to talk to your GP first to get a diagnosis before having aromatherapy. This is to ensure that aromatherapy is an appropriate treatment for you. Aromatherapists are not trained to make a a medical diagnosis; however, I am able to advise you on a course of aromatherapy treatment.
Your aromatherapy massage
I will either recommend the use of a single oil or perhaps a blend of two or three; this also depends on your prefernce. After creating your personal blend, I will ensure you are comfortable on the massage table, and then use the oils, diluted in a carrier oil. A carrier oil is usually extracted from vegetables, nuts or seeds.
An aromatherapy treatment will last around one hour.
You might find that one session is enough or you may decide to continue with regular treatments. A full series of treatments consists of about 6-10 sessions of aromatherapy.
